With kids off school today, boredom is SURE to strike at some point. And that's why a trip into the pantry is due for one of the things we can ONLY make in Milwaukee on a day like today: SNOW ICE CREAM.
It's a simple recipe, really:
- Take 10-12 cups of CLEAN, FRESH SNOW (hint - before you've let the dogs at it)
- Mix in a can of sweetened condensed milk
- And a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
While you might think this would turn the snow into soup, the sweetened condensed milk actually acts as a sort of binder, and it gets even more solid. Stick it in the freezer - or heck, just do the Wisconsin thing and put it on the back deck - and enjoy! Of course - enjoy at your own risk, of course, and make sure the snow is fresh and clean.
(Did I mention the snow should be fresh and clean? K. Just checking!)
Happy SNOW DAY!
